Jesus uses the Law of God to expose how the “righteous Pharisees and Scribes” were actually sinners. Let the same thing be done here today, if you think you are righteous on your own, then you are not comparing yourself to the right standard. If you know you are a sinner, and have been saved by Jesus Christ, then rejoice! Peace accompanies the Prince of Peace, even for the slow-to-learn. No matter what you are going through, Jesus makes his peace available to you, right here and now, where you are at. I can recall many occasions, where I was not where I needed to be spiritually, but Jesus nevertheless offered his grace and peace to me in spite of it.
The next time you find yourself in the striving against the wind life brings you, and you feel all alone, remember that from his vantage point, Jesus sees everything. And He is not indifferent but is compassionate. Remember, though, what true compassion is. He may not deliver you from your struggle right away, but often uses struggles, hardships, and tests of faith to know Him more fully. When God does answer us and provide His help, keep in mind that His power often meets us in ways that are unexpected, uncertain, and perhaps even frightening. It takes discernment to know where God is truly working, and we can grow in our discernment by growing in our knowledge of God through His Word. And even though we are a work in progress, God makes Himself available to us where we are at right now. A benefit he offers is the peace that accompanies His presence, and it is available even to the slow-to-learn.

Shepherd and the Bread. God cares for His sheep by sending the ultimate shepherd, Jesus Christ the Son of God. Jesus takes care of his sheep by teaching them. They feed on His words. His sheep hear his voice, come to him and are fed by him. We also begin to see in this feeding that Jesus uses it to not only point to himself as The Shepherd who feeds them, but also that He is the The Bread of Life. The Bread from Heaven that Israel ate for life was symbolic of the ultimate Bread of from Heaven that would be sent for people to have eternal life! Death comes for all, but the good news for John and the good news for us, is that death is not the end.  Death is not victorious or the end, but only the beginning.  His disciples laid his body in a tomb, but God immediately received him, his soul into heaven. Confess, repent, and believe in the Son. He is the only one who can remove sin.  Don’t expect the whole world to love you.  It didn’t love Jesus, the Disciples, or John. If it does, you might need to be a little clearer about who you believe in.

The Apostles went out teaching, healing, and casting out demons just as Jesus commanded, and it worked. The Kingdom of God was growing, and spreading. The Apostles, ones sent, had undertaken their first sending, and had returned to Jesus. Soon there would be only sending.

All men die, but not all men are victorious over it.  Victory over death can only be guaranteed by the one who ultimately overcame it, Jesus Christ! The very one who raises Jairus daughter from the dead, who was in charge of her body and her spirit is the very one who is in charge of yours as well.

    Mark 4:1-20
A parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. It is a comparison of nature or daily life to a spiritual matter that is meant to teach a spiritual truth. Jesus’ parables had to do with daily life. Mathew has the most, then Luke, Mark, and John does not contain any. Over sixty parables from Jesus are recorded for us, since they are used by Jesus so often it is important that we learn how to understand this style of teaching. The Parable of the Sower is particularly easy because Jesus tells us the parable and then explains it as well. This message was clarified to the Disciples who would soon be left with the responsibility to teach and preach the Word. Jesus lets them know that though the message will be the same, there will be different types of reception. But to trust God’s sovereignty. There are aspects of these soils that even Christians will struggle with to some degree. Have you ever heard the Word of God, but not dwell on it, not let it resonate with your soul, convict you, and change you as it should? Have you ever heard the Word of God and been uninterested? Have you ever slowed seemingly to a screeching halt in the face of various trials, troubles, and tribulations? Have you ever allowed the things of this world to become more important to you than Christ? Have you allowed weeds of the world to grow? They almost seem to choke out what was once so important? The good news is that if you are a true believer, your salvation is secure. This does not mean that we will not struggle and even look similar to one of these soils, but the one who has planted you has also prepared the soil and you will continue to grow you, and keep you. The final fruit of our salvation is ultimately the final and full state of our salvation which is glorification.

Only true believers have the desire to repent. Even if you think you have committed some kind of sin that is unforgivable, but right now have a desire to repent, then you have not committed the unpardonable sin. Do you admit that you have sinned against God and desire to turn from your sin? Have no fear that you have committed the unpardonable sin. If you had, you would not be able to repent of any sin. Only a true Believer can repent. Those that commit blasphemy of the Holy Spirit are never forgiven, but neither do they desire to be forgiven. A desire to have forgiveness from God is sign of not committing this sin.
