    Mark 14:51-65
    By: Guest
    Series: Mark
Jesus undeniably claimed to be God. We can be sure of that because the high priest certainly took it that way. He tears his garments in mourning. He is confident that all those standing around him heard the same thing that he did: blasphemy. This man claimed to be the Messiah, but even more outrageously, claimed to be God. And he proceeds to sanction yet further acts of cosmic injustice as they spit on, mock, strike, and pronounce death on their Creator: the Son of the Blessed One, God Incarnate.

Three times Peter had denied Christ by the fire and now Peter confesses his love for Jesus three times by the fire. Upon the third question of Jesus whether or not Peter loves Him, notice that Peter says, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Here, he fully acknowledges that Jesus knows everything. Finally, Peter understands Jesus knows everything from the details of His own death and resurrection to the disciples abandoning Him to the exact timing of Peter’s denials with a chicken crowing two times to whether or not Peter really loved Jesus.

And so it is with you today. Do you love Him?

How were the Jews in Egypt saved? How did God’s wrath pass them over?

A lamb was sacrificed and the blood put on the door.

Would they be saved if they had not followed God’s direction for salvation?

No. In fact God tells them to not go outside of their home or they too will face the wrath of God.

So too, God has provided Jesus Christ, the Supreme Passover Lamb, the way, the truth, and the life and no one will be saved except through Him.

Have you trusted in Him for your salvation and forgiveness? Or are you trying to get there some other way?

Mary’s beautiful display of worship is surrounded by those who want to do the opposite of worship. The hypocrites of the Sanhedrin and Judas do not want to worship Him, they want to kill Him.
The Passover is quickly approaching. Christ will soon be killed and take the wrath of God in our place. Jesus is our Passover Lamb and only by His life and death can we be saved.

    Mark 13:9-22
    Series: Mark
Jesus is prophesying about a radical change that will soon take place. Soon there will be no more temple and no more of the religious leaders. Jesus prophesied their destruction and it will soon happen.

The Messiah, Jesus The Son of God had come. The Savior had come but the religious leaders and vast majority of the Jews had rejected Him. He would soon come in judgment upon them.

We know that God is perfectly just in punishing sin. There is no escape from that judgment and punishment accept in God’s one and only Savior.

Let us remember that all sinners deserve divine punishment and will receive it unless they are saved. The only way to be saved from the wrath of God for sin is by repenting of sin and believing in His Savior Jesus Christ who took the wrath of God that we deserve.
