The Immutability of God

The Immutability of God

September 1, 2019

We are studying who God says that He is, but is it possible that God might change who He is? Is it possible that we could spend all of this time getting to know God only to find out that He is not like that anymore? The good news is, that God has revealed that He is immutable, without change. As a Christian, we are not immutable, but our God is, and this should affect you in a very personal manner Thank you for listening. The Church at Pecan Creek is located in Denton, Texas. We invite you to join us each Sunday at 10 AM. For more information visit our website, http://www.thechurchatpecancreek.com.

Where is God? Everywhere. What does this mean for us? For the non-Christian, great fear, for God has seen and sees every sin you have ever committed. Every sin that has ever been committed has been done in the presence of God. For the Christian:
    1. Great comfort - As David found in Psalm 23 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
    2. Purity of life -  We should not believe that God is everywhere yet live as though He is nowhere. Knowing what we know about God, should have an effect on our lives. Theology is not just for the brain; it is for real life.

The One who has given us eternal life is also the One whose power guarantees our eternal life. As we have studied God’s omnipotence, we have been reminded that God is infinitely more powerful than anything in His creation. God accomplishes all of His holy will, and that will is the preservation of all whom He has regenerated. Thank you for listening. The Church at Pecan Creek is located in Denton, Texas. We are often quick to ascribe omnipotence to God over some of His creation, but not all of it, particularly over ourselves. However, it is important for us to recognize that there is only One who is all-powerful and that One is God. Do our choices matter? Yes. Is God sovereign over all of His creation and even us? Yes. Can you ever resolve this fully in your mind? I don’t think so. It appears to be in a category of information that remains only in the mind of God, and that is okay. The Apostle Paul acknowledges that God’s wisdom is far above ours and praises Him for it. Thank you for listening. The Church at Pecan Creek is located in Denton, Texas. God is all-powerful, even over Satan and Demons. Think about what this means for us. There is nothing, no one, no power, anywhere, at any time that can get to you without the permission of God. God Almighty has, does, and will accomplish all of His Holy will. As believers, we can rest in knowing that God is in control. He is in control of the most powerful stars in the universe and the most powerful people on earth. We rest in knowing that nothing can thwart the plans of God. No matter how out of control things may appear to us with our limited knowledge and limited power, may we rest in knowing that “all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Rom. 8:28).” Thank you for listening. There are certainly times where we may be tempted to think that God is not in control, but we must remind ourselves that God is all-powerful and is accomplishing His purpose.

    The Omniscience of God

    June 30, 2019

Learning about God’s omniscience should have practical ramifications in your everyday life as well.
Our knowledge of God’s omniscience should:
    1. Lead us to humble ourselves before the Lord.
    2. Increase our worship of God.
    3. Cause us to more aggressively pursue outward and inward holiness.
    4. Cause us to confess and repent of our sins faster.
    5. Increase in gratitude to God.
Think about it, God knew every failure, every sin, every backslide, ever sinful word, thought, and deed, yet still, He chose to save me. Thank you for listening. God is Self-existent and Eternal

    June 23, 2019

God is in a category by Himself. He was not created, but the Creator. He has no origin, for He is the Originator. He was not caused but is the Supreme Cause. He has no beginning or end; He alone is eternal. For the non-Christian, the eternality of God is horrifying. For the Christian, there is comfort beyond measure in the eternality of God. How Has God Made Himself Known?

    June 16, 2019

With General Revelation, as Believers, we should allow the creation to remind us of its Creator. Stare at the night sky, look at the stars, and appreciate the greatness of God. Consider a ladybug, admire its ways, but allow even that ladybug to remind you of its Creator. With Special Revelation, we are to understand that God was not content for humanity to only know that He exists, but that He has given us details about Himself in Scripture that we are to study. Thank you for listening. The Church at Pecan Creek is located in Denton, Texas. We invite you to join us each Sunday at 10 AM.
