    The Call to Follow Christ

    July 28, 2019

    Primary Text: Matthew 7:13-14

This sermon was brought by Randy Cox.

Jesus’ teaching is clear and exclusive. There is only one way to heaven (the dwelling place of God), and that is through Jesus. As a Christian, have you ever found yourself being scorned for believing that Jesus is the only way to heaven? How could you best respond to such an accusation?

    Series: Guest Sermon

    Ephesians 2:1-10

This sermon was brought by Randy Cox. We must constantly grow in our understanding of the gospel, but we will never grow beyond our need for the gospel.

    Four Truths of the Gospel

    1. We are saved from God’s wrath.
    2. We are saved by God’s grace.
    3. We are saved for good works.
    4. We are saved to the praise of God’s glory.

    Mark 14:51-65

Jesus undeniably claimed to be God. We can be sure of that because the high priest certainly took it that way. He tears his garments in mourning. He is confident that all those standing around him heard the same thing that he did: blasphemy. This man claimed to be the Messiah, but even more outrageously, claimed to be God. And he proceeds to sanction yet further acts of cosmic injustice as they spit on, mock, strike, and pronounce death on their Creator: the Son of the Blessed One, God Incarnate.

Peace accompanies the Prince of Peace, even for the slow-to-learn. No matter what you are going through, Jesus makes his peace available to you, right here and now, where you are at. I can recall many occasions, where I was not where I needed to be spiritually, but Jesus nevertheless offered his grace and peace to me in spite of it.
The next time you find yourself in the striving against the wind life brings you, and you feel all alone, remember that from his vantage point, Jesus sees everything. And He is not indifferent but is compassionate. Remember, though, what true compassion is. He may not deliver you from your struggle right away, but often uses struggles, hardships, and tests of faith to know Him more fully. When God does answer us and provide His help, keep in mind that His power often meets us in ways that are unexpected, uncertain, and perhaps even frightening. It takes discernment to know where God is truly working, and we can grow in our discernment by growing in our knowledge of God through His Word. And even though we are a work in progress, God makes Himself available to us where we are at right now. A benefit he offers is the peace that accompanies His presence, and it is available even to the slow-to-learn.

    The Authentic Christian Household

    January 31, 2016

Does your household bear the marks of an authentic Christianity? Remember that it starts with each of us here individually. We will all ultimately give an account to God for our own faith (or lack thereof), not for someone else’s. If you have never done so, I urge you to embark on the journey of knowing the one and only true God of the Bible, who revealed his personal name Yahweh and even went so far as to send his Son into the world so that He might save those who are His. Do not delay, put your faith and trust in Him alone today.
