1 John 2:18-22

January 5, 2020

Who a person believes Jesus to be is no small matter. John is extremely black and white with what he teaches about true and false Christianity. In the previous passage, John teaches that if a person professes to be right with God yet loves the world, then, in reality, he or she hates God. In the passage today, John goes on to say that a person professing to be right with God must see Jesus as the Christ, or he or she is an antichrist. Remember, he gives them this information as a warning. Not all who say they believe in Jesus believe in the right Jesus.

It is not enough to say that we are Christians, we must believe in God’s only source of salvation the one and only one whom God sent, the Messiah, the Christ, who was God and man, who lived, died, rose, and ascended to save us from our sin.
