1 John 2:1-6

1 John 2:1-6

November 3, 2019

Words are easy to say. Many people today say that they know Jesus, but their lives reveal otherwise. Such a person should have no confidence or assurance that he or she is truly saved. In fact, John calls them a liar, because their mouth says one thing but their life says another. How can you know that you are saved? Christ was and is the object of your forgiveness. Being a Christian does not mean that you are without sin. It does mean, however, that you see your sin and you hate that sin; you see the Savior and you love the Savior. You continue to confess your sin to the Savior and continue to trust in His blood for the forgiveness of your sins. Thank you for listening. The Church at Pecan Creek is located in Denton, Texas. We invite you to join us each Sunday at 10 AM. For more information visit our website, http://www.thechurchatpecancreek.com.

    1 John 1:5-10

    October 27, 2019

The Apostle John is clear in his opening to 1 John that orthodoxy (right belief) and orthopraxy (right living) are necessary to be in fellowship with God. If a person rejects the historical Jesus as being man or as being God, they are not in fellowship with Him. Likewise, if a person professes correct doctrine, yet lives in darkness, their walking in the dark reveals that they are not in the light. Thank you for listening. 1 John 1:1-4

    October 20, 2019

1 John was written to believers, Christians, who are dealing with false teaching about Jesus Christ that had come into their community. It was a form of Gnosticism, the belief that matter is evil and spirit is good. This belief caused the Gnostics to believe that Jesus could not have been a real human. John, like Christ and the other Apostles, does not tolerate false teaching. He writes this letter to re-affirm sound doctrine and to expose false doctrine. Thank you for listening. Sola Scriptura

    October 13, 2019

Sola Scriptura is the belief that God has revealed to us in His Holy Word what we are to believe and how we are to behave. Belief and behavior are intimately connected. What you believe about the Bible will greatly affect your behavior. Do you believe that is from God and comes with the authority of God? Don’t be surprised when the world opposes your Biblical standards. Jesus abided by the standards and beliefs of the Bible perfectly and the world hated Him and crucified Him. But even when they do, don’t be afraid to state why you believe what you believe. Thank you for listening. The Church at Pecan Creek is located in Denton, Texas. The Love of God

    The Love of God

    October 6, 2019

There is absolutely no reason, in and of ourselves, that God should love us. There is nothing that any human has ever done to deserve the love of God. The ultimate expression of God’s love is that Jesus died for us. We love God because He first loved us. God’s love is always prior. God’s love for those who are His, will never end. It is based on the person and work of Jesus Christ, and not on us. God’s love will cause you to desire to obey His commands, to model God’s love to others, and should cause thankfulness beyond expression. Thank you for listening. The Patience of God

    The Patience of God

    September 29, 2019

The patience of God is the excellency which causes Him to sustain great insult without immediately avenging Himself. It is directly connected to His mercy and grace. Just because God does not immediately pour out His wrath upon sinners does not mean that He never will. God is not weak in His patience; He is strong in His patience. Human anger is most often due to our own weak ability to control our thoughts and emotions. However, God has full power over all things, including Himself. Unbeliever, don’t presume upon God’s mercy by abusing His patience. It will come to an end. Believer, thank God for his patience with you and reflect God’s patience with others. Thank you for listening. The Church at Pecan Creek is located in Denton, Texas. We invite you to join us each Sunday at 10 AM.
